Club’s Annual Tree Planting

Well, it’s coming up to that time of the year again…….Club’s Annual Tree Planting. We are planting Saturday 10th August and following day the 11th of August.

We have about 2000 trees to plant, as per our agreement with Hamilton City Council to use the land at Pukete for our local track. This year we have a great range including Kahikatea Tree’s that grow up to 60 meters in height!

The planting area will be at the new track between Willows and 3 Times Tables within the Sandpit area.
All planting holes shall be pre-dug by use of posthole borer to speed up the process. After planting we need to peg down ground cover of carpet or weed mat around tree’s and spread mulch over top. Aiming to hire a digger to load the quad tipping trailer.

Track crew will be available on hand to supervise, food and drinks available towards at end of the day with some good company.

So please come along and come take part in growing our urban forest and gain some good trail karma, even if you only plant one tree.

Cheers and kind regards,
Craig Gerrand,
Pukete MTB Track manager
