Hamilton Mountain Biking Club (HMBC) have an agreement with Hamilton City Council (HCC) to annually plant at least 1000 trees which are provided by HCC, with the goal being to remove pest plants and grow a inner city forest creating a tree canopy to minimize unwanted vegetation growth underneath. Tree Planting as recent as 3 years ago has seen the desired tree canopy forming over the top of the track so we are fast progressing towards this goal.
This year The Annual Tree Planting will take place on Sunday the 29th July and any required future dates until all 3,000 trees are planted. The planting grounds have already been cleared and we are planning to have holes pre dug ready to go, so basically we just need to put the trees in the hole.
Planting starts at 10.00am, and there are 3 separate planting areas as shown on the map below starting at area 1 and the track crew will be on hand to supervise with contact phone numbers available at the sea containers on the day. There shall be a BBQ afterwards where you are most welcome to share ideas of what features you would like to see at your local track.
So come along and play your part in growing your nearby/local HMBC track, and ‘many hands make light work’ so the more we have turn up to help the quicker we will get all the trees planted !!
